This is a genuine GM fuel filter head. The most common occurence of a failing fuel filter head is loss of prime. If this is continually happening then replacing it is the best coarse of action. Unfortunately this has been discontinued by GM, you are able to use the standard filter head o-ring rebuild kit to rebuild your original filter head.
