Years of professional knowledge and testing led us to these "Built to Perform" Race Short Blocks. 

The DmaxStore Stage 3 Race Short Block is built specifically to hold as much power as you can throw at it. This is the Go-To build for many of the trucks that have run in the NHRDA, the Ultimate Callout Challenge, and the Outlaw Diesel Super Series. Conservatively rated at 1500+ HP but have seen trucks hold with over 2000 Horsepower. Even if the power goals are much less, this assembly can offer peace of mind for those who abuse their engines. This Brand New Short Block comes fully balanced with all Brand New Parts (Not refurbished) by our Machine/Build Shop which has been in business for over 20 years. The engine builder is a member of the Automotive Engine Rebuilders Association and has had the privilege of sitting on the AERA National Board of Directors. These Short Blocks come Digitally Balanced from the same machine that balances Ferrari and Porsche Motors to withstand 12,000RPM. Other builds only last a couple passes at the track and then require a full stripdown.

Brand New LML Short Block Includes:

  • 1x Callies Ultra Billet Crankshaft (Internally Balanced)

    • Rated at ​2000+HP 
    • Callies Ultra Billet crankshafts are designed to be substantially stronger than OEM shafts currently found in GM’s popular Duramax diesel.  
    • Features increased counterweight angles, diameters, and thickness to create the best balance possible.
    • For improved stiffness and durability rod journals are machined to a width that maximizes the effectiveness of all rod bearing inserts without unnecessary connecting rod mass.
    • Callies Ultra Billet Cranks are machined from Premium Grade Timken alloy steel. This high quality specialty steel has been formulated to create a level of toughness that is unmatched in the crankshaft industry.
  • 1x Carrillo Hybrid Forged Piston and Rod Kit
    (Part# DHR7030PRKH)
    • ​Rated at 1500+HP
    • After years of research and development while working closely with renowned engine builders, CP-Carrillo light weight Diesel Hybrid kits have been proven to provide an amazing reduction in reciprocating weight over the factory piston and rod assembly. This Piston & Rod kit allows for a longer rod without the use of a deck plate, improving rod to stroke ratio.  Conservatively rated around 1500HP but we have seen trucks hold with this set up well over the 2000HP mark.
    • This Hybrid Forged Piston & Connecting Rod Kit consists of a set of connecting rods that are .202" longer and designed to work with their 0.202" shorter CH and 1.156" Top Fuel Pin. The piston has a 4.075" Bore and 16.5:1 CR. This combo is approximately 1/2 lb lighter per cylinder than the stock components (around 4lbs off rotating assembly). 
    • Coated Forged Pistons are made to Last
    • Carrillo Pro-HD Connecting Rods are manufactured for direct fit with the Callies Ultra Billet Crank and are commonly know as the best rods on the market.
  • 1x Socal Diesel Billet Main Caps
    (Part# SCDMAINCAPS
    • SoCal Diesel main caps solve the collapse issue by using high strength aircraft quality steel. Blanchard ground, precision machined.
    • Recommended for engines above 800 RWHP
  • 1x Durastar Billet Main Girdle
    (Part# DMAXGIRDLE)
    • The Duramax engine suffers from main cap movement at high power levels. Even with ARP main studs and cross bolts, we have seen evidence in the bearing wear, of the cap flexing towards the front or the rear of the engine. This Billet Main Girdle is a solution that provides structure to the top of the main caps, linking all of the main caps together, as well as linking the main caps to the pan rail.  
  • 8x Mahle/Clevite Connecting Rod Bearing Set
  • 1x Tri-Metal Performance Main Bearing Set 
  • 2x Mahle/Clevite Thrust Washer Set
  • 1x ARP Main Stud Set (Extended for the Billet Main Girdle)
  • Block is O-Ringed for maximum combustion and seal
    • ​O-ringing is the process of cutting a circular groove in your block surface. Once the groove is cut, a hardened stainless steel ring is set in the grooves that were cut. The steel ring will be 0.006 inches higher than the block surface so when the head is torqued, the steel rings embed into the headgasket, allowing a stronger seal. This process has been proven to hold well over 100PSI of Boost.

    • ​Alternate Firing Order
    • No Piston Valve Relief Needed!
    • The main reason for modifying the Duramax firing order with the camshaft is to relieve stress on the front portion of the crankshaft in higher performance applications. The OEM firing order ends at Cylinder #3 and then continues from the beginning through cylinders 1 and 2. The Duramax Cranks see the most strain and tend to break right behind the first rod throw at the intersection of the second main journal (the snout). We have seen failures on anything from mildly modified daily drivers to all-out competition trucks. The Duramax engine Harmonics become too stressful on the cranks when getting into the higher RPM ranges and bigger power levels with the OEM firing order. With this DuraStar Alternate Firing Camshaft, cylinders 1, 2, and 3 are moved away from each other to distribute the stress of combustion more evenly and help reduce the abuse to your crankshaft
  • 1x ATI Super Damper (Zero Balance)
    (Part# 917378
    • Free up some horsepower while prolonging your diesel’s crankshaft life. Keep damaging crank harmonics away. ATI Super Harmonic Dampers are proven to be 30 percent more effective than stock dampers. That means a smoother running engine with improved power output—up to 12 more horsepower. ATI Super Harmonic Dampers are also re-buildable and tunable by replacing, removing, and adjusting the elastomer strips. And, since the damper bolts right to the crank hub, the timing marks are always in the same spot. So, when the marks start to move, you know it’s time to replace the elastomer strips. This Block requires a "Zero Balance" Damper because the Rotating Assembly is Internally Balanced.

  • 1x Suncoast Billet Steel Flexplate (Zero Balance)
    (Part# A1-BFP-ZB)
    • Billet 1 Piece Flexplates are lighter and stronger than stock
    • They Meet the new SFI 29.3 specification for competition use
    • This Block requires a "Zero Balance" Flexplate because the Rotating Assembly is Internally Balanced.
